Analog input boards are useful for measuring variably changing conditions in the real world. When we want to measure these variably changing conditions, we need analog inputs to convert these changing real world conditions to changing electrical quantities. For example, monitoring the temperature inside a wood kiln, or the water pressure on the output of a pump, or the heart rate of a medical patient. In each of these cases, you can use one of our analog input devices to convert the electrical data from a sensor or transducer into binary data that can then be used by your computer. The device that converts this data is known as an analog to digital converter (abbreviated ADC, A/D, or A to D). An analog input is a measurable electrical signal with a defined range. The analog input changes continuously in a definable manner in relation to the measured property. This data is very useful for process monitoring, process control, or simple monitoring / data collection and acquisition. In normal operation the control panel provides real time display of gas concentrations or the status of other field devices; battery charge levels, network RF signal quality and any number of fault diagnostic conditions affecting either an individual field device or the entire network. These fault conditions are displayed on the control screen.Options include audio alarm, visual alarm, external alarm port, alarm reset switch and up to 4 external wired sensor inputs. Display options enable the user to display interferograms, spectra or both, as well as to adjust plot scales and units. Onboard math processing allows for real-time calculation of ratio, difference, and absorbance, and when using our calibrated hot-cold blackbody calibrators, the ability to measure calibrated radiance. Further, WinFT offers the ability to measure sample temperature in the radiance function by matching a Planck to the calibrated radiance. With the gold diffuse plate, the software can also compute and display absolute emissivity of samples. Our software also enables exporting of data files, now made even easier with our USB and LAN connections. In addition, the software has been designed to be easily run using the keyboard function keys and single letter commands, making the use of a mouse in the field optionalas well as minimizing key strokes when taking measurements in the field.

Our design heritage and past experience in this field cover the design, manufacture and AIT activities of many optics and sub-assemblies used in Telescope instrumentation, such as focal plane assemblies as well as the direct production of telescope mirrors themselves. Several major achievements of Thales ground-based Astronomy products were the Optical wide field corrector for the Dark Energy Survey (lien), the Reference Body for future Deformable Secondary Mirror of the VLT (lien) and different challenging spectrograph optics (Collimator and Cameras) for different Observatories (lien). One advantage Thales has with this activity is that most part of the manufacturing steps involved (i.e. opto-mechanical design, milling/grinding, lightening, polishing and coating) are directly under our control in our own facility. Our current capabilities for the production of optics for ground-based Astronomy are from a few centimeters size up to 2 meters. Thanks to the continuous efforts in R& D and investments into new production machines, Thales is now ready for future industrial challenges including the optical production of some key elements of the E-ELT, GMT and TMT programs.

Battery test chambers are supplied to a variety of industries including telecommunications, computer and automotive. With the goal of reducing automobile emissions and the development of electric vehicles, the need for lithium ion battery testing is even more critical. Our proven experience provides the most cost-effective solutions. Each test chamber is built according to specific test requirements and may be interfaced with battery cyclers, control & monitoring data acquisitions systems and other test equipment for a complete integrated test solution. All environmental chambers are designed with safety in mind. A variety of safety features are provided for reliability and abuse testing of batteries. These features may be incorporated into CSZ test chambers and tailored to the various hazard levels of EUCAR (European Council for Automotive R&D), a consortium of European car manufacturers. To better assess the hazard potential of tests, EUCAR has investigated hazardous situations and divided them into eight risk classes. The development of the safety equipment of our battery test systems is also based on this classification. The LS-71P PCI D/A Converter (DAC) board provides high speed analog outputs of PCM decommutated data allowing real time data displays using strip chart recorders or similar devices. The LS-71-P board is designed to be used in conjunction with the Lumistar LS-50-P Multifunction PCM Decommutator boards and uses an over-the-top communication bus directly from the decom to the DAC to avoid any glitches in the analog outputs due to PCI bus activity. Direct “mailbox” type access is also provided to allow the user to send information through the PCI bus to the DACs. The DAC board design allows 2 LS-50-D Multifunction decom boards to be used with a single DAC board allowing tagged data from either data stream to be directed to any DAC channel. An optional LS-71-DB Word Selector Daughterboard allows two additional data streams to be monitored with the ability to select channels from 4 data streams to be displayed on any DAC channel. The design incorporates an extremely large memory (more than 200,000 16-bit words) used as a lookup table allowing linear or non-linear EUconversions with constant delay regardless of the number of polynomial coefficients required. Standard product supports a single decom, however, dual decom support is available as an option.
